'08 Award Winner

First State Bank of Jackson, Tennessee received the award for jointly launching with the United Way “SavingsPoint,” the nation’s first and only community pilot during the 2008 tax season, enabling volunteers or staff to open bank accounts for low-income clients at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) free tax preparation sites.

'09 Venue

To exemplify the renewal of New Orleans, the venue for this year’s event is the newly restored Roosevelt Hotel. Largely heralded as one of the South’s first grand hotels, the Roosevelt, like the city, is experiencing a rebirth. During its heyday, it was a revolving door of the time’s most famous names—Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett.
