Subprime Soup to Nuts:
Regulatory Response, Litigation and Implications for the Future

The meltdown of the subprime mortgage lending industry has resulted in enhanced regulatory scrutiny and an onslaught of litigation against mortgage brokers and lenders. In reaction to the rise in foreclosures, we can expect to see new legislation and regulations which will create additional complexity and undoubtedly more litigation.  Join this panel as they update us on the latest industry developments, including litigation initiated by cities and states against lenders for "predatory" or "unfair" lending and more.

Tuesday, Oct 28, 3:30 – 4:45pm

Establishing a Risk Assessment Program– Getting the Data you Need to Prepare for Today’s Fair Lending Exam

With the number of fair lending exams on the rise and increasing scrutiny lending practices must be void of even an appearance of disparate treatment, especially disparate treatment based on race, gender and ethnicity.  A solid prevention method is the fair lending risk assessment – however, getting the essential data to perform a through risk assessment is not easy.  In addition to HMDA data you will need to collect credit score, debt to income ratio, loan to value ratio, and more.  Join this panel of experts who will share advice on the best way to aggregate and analyze this data. Given the onset of the subprime mortgage financial crisis in 2007, and the political landscape that lies ahead, now is the time to do a risk assessment and position your organization to strategically manage the compliance risks.
